The reason this five star book gets less stars occasionally is not because of its contents or purpose; it is because of either being mistaken for a kids book, in which case one wonders why it is forces on kids, or it is so dated that even the reader thinks it is gobbledygook.

You will find the book full of references to items of the time and play on words of the time.

If you fall into either of these categories then you need to first purchase "The Annotated Alice: The Definitive Edition"; this will clear this understandable confusion.

I will not go through the story, as that is why you are buying this book. However I will say that it is a classic and should be part of everyone's cultural education.

When you make it through this book and enjoy it the next challenge should be "Alice's Abenteuer Im Wunderland” German Translation.

If you are also interested in sci-fi then try to get a copy of "Mimsy Were the Borogoves" by Henry Kuttner.

アリスの本は数多く出ていますが、机に向かってゆったりと読むのなら是非これを選んでください。

「不思議の国のアリス」はもともとアリス・リデルのためだけに書かれた手書きの「地下の国のアリス」というお話でしたが、
それが出版にあたってさらに書き加えられ、当時評判の高かったジョン・テニエルが挿絵を描き、1865年に出版されました。

この本はそのジョン・テニエルによるイラストを使っており、おそらくオリジナルに近い形なのだろうと思います。
大きさは21.6x14.8cmで大きすぎず、小さすぎず。本を閉じた状態では紙が金色に輝きます。
かといって、読んでいるときにそれが手についたりはしません。若干裏の印刷が透けて見えますが、紙は白く
アリスがネズミの話しを尻尾の形で聞いているあの場面でも、一番小さな文字まではっきりしています。
